Biology 101 - Introduction to Biology

Biology 101 Text

This course is designed to provide a general introduction to biology. If you are interested in learning concepts of Biology with a modern perspective, this course is for you.  We will cover the basics of biology (organic compounds and cells), then proceed with an overview of DNA, heredity, and reproduction, and finish off with evolution and natural selection.

The textbook for the course is "Biology: Concepts and Applications without Physiology" (Cecie Starr, Thomson Advantage Books). This is a recently updated text, with lots of great color illustrations and photos that complement the reading. There is also an included CD-ROM and some online supplementary material provided by the textbook publisher (Thomson Advantage Books / Cengage).

Please consult the current syllabus for details on course assignments, grading, and other information.
