This course is designed to provide a general introduction to biology, with a human focus. If you are interested in learning how the human body works, this class is for you. We will cover the basics of biology (organic compounds and cells), then proceed with an overview of the function and structure of major organ systems in humans.
The textbook for the course is Human Biology (6th Edition, Daniel Chiras). This is a recently updated text, with lots of great color illustrations and photos that complement the reading. There is also an on-line learning center maintained by the textbook publisher, Jones & Bartlett.Please consult the current syllabus for details on course assignments, grading, and other information.
