This is an introductory course designed to give students a general understanding of Environmental Science and current environmental issues. Students will learn basics of ecology, the facts behind the environmental crisis, and the progress we've made to address problems.

Special attention will be given to current environmental issues such as global warming, alternative energy sources, and the biodiversity crisis. Lectures will feature discussion periods, and opportunities to present important issues of interest to students.

The textbook for the course is "Visualizing Environmental Science" (1st Ed) by Linda R. Berg & Mary Catherine Hager. This text is recently published (2007) and covers a broad range of issues. The illustrations and photos in the book are vivid and clear. There is also online content for students provided by the publisher, Wiley.

Please consult the current syllabus for details on course assignments, grading, and other information.
