Hip Resurfacing

I had hip replacement surgery on 19 October 2007, causing me to miss Term II, not to mention resulting in a huge disruption of my life. I'm very happy to report that my recovery has been astounding, and I'm back to an active lifestyle.

Although I'm relatively young for this kind of surgery (43 y.o. at that time), it's becoming increasingly common among active people. Hip resurfacing is a relatively new technique and the most common system is the Birmingham Hip Replacement (BHR) system. BHR requires the removal of much less bone in the femur than the usual Total Hip Replacement (THR) surgery. Although BHR has only been in use for 10 years, I'm told the success rate at 10 years is well over 90%.

Below are some links for people interested in my experience with hip replacement, as well as information links. You are more than welcome to email me with questions.
